Volunteer Tour Guide Role
This role suits people who enjoy talking to others, feel confident speaking to groups, understand what makes a great visitor experience and are interested in the story of the Guards.
The role involves:
- Providing a friendly greeting to all visitors on arrival
- Assisting visitors with any accessibility requirements, such as operating the lift
- Leading engaging and informative tours for individuals and groups
- Sharing stories and insights about the museum, its collection and its history
- Answering visitor questions about the story of the Guards
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of visitors during their tour
- Thanking visitors at the end of your tour and listening to feedback
Volunteers should be available during the museum’s opening hours (10:00am to 4:00pm) and be able to commit to a regular weekly or fortnightly volunteer shift (morning 9:45am to 1:00pm, or afternoon 12:30pm to 4:00pm) while researching and preparing their tours. Once signed off, tour shifts will be issued on an ad hoc basis.
This role offers the opportunity to learn about our collection and history; training and assistance will be provided. You must be committed to upholding our values and core messages while working with the public.
