1600s

The 17th Century was a period of unprecedented upheaval for the country. Political and religious conflict led to civil war in England and rebellions in the other nations. For the first time the government executed the King and England briefly became a Republic before restoring the Monarchy. The British Army was also formed with the Foot Guards taking their place at the forefront.
