Find Us

We are located in the heart of ceremonial London with Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and The Houses of Parliament all a short walk away, and the most royal of London's parks, St.James's Park, next door.

Whether arriving by public transport or on foot, here’s how to find us.

The nearest underground station is St James’s Park (District & Circle lines), approximately a 5 minute walk away.

Exit the station via the main entrance, and cross the road to continue straight down Queen Anne's Gate. After crossing through the gates, turn left onto Birdcage Walk. The museum is located on the left, through Chapel Square then down the stairs.

Westminster underground station (District, Circle, and Jubilee lines) and Victoria underground station (District, Circle, Piccadilly and Victoria lines) are both a 12 minute walk.

The nearest National Rail Stations are:

London Victoria (15 minute walk)
London Charing Cross (20 minute walk)
London Waterloo (25 minute walk)

The nearest bus stops are located on Victoria Street, approximately a 10 minute walk from the museum.

There is no on-site parking or parking immediately outside the museum. Parking outside the museum on Birdcage Walk is not permitted but you are allowed to be dropped off or pick-up. Please note Birdcage Walk is a private road, no coaches or commercial vehicles are allowed to use it without payment of a fee to The Royal Parks.

The surrounding area is a Controlled Parking Zone, please check the Westminster Council website for information on public parking. https://www.westminster.gov.uk/

If you are coming by taxi please ask for The Guards Museum on Birdcage Walk.

On departure, there is a taxi rank close to St. James's Park Underground Station.  On leaving the museum, exit the gates and turn left onto Queen Anne's Gate; the rank is located next to the station exit at the junction of Broadway and Queen Anne's Gate.

The museum is located on Birdcage Walk. Enter Chapel Square and look out for the two blue sentry boxes on the right. The museum is located down the stairs.
