Explore stories from across our history, from the first campaign medal in the British Army, to the battlefields of Waterloo, to an officer in the Coldstream Guards who also happened to be a goose.

We offer a range of self-led children's activities year-round in our galleries, including colouring, books, and more.

Army Uniforms

Explore our Guardsman's Locker, straight from the barracks and into our gallery!

Exhibitions

With over 1000 items from our collection on public display, ranging from the 1600s to the present day, our exhibitions will take you through Royal coronations and Royal executions, from the coldest corners of the world to riding camel-back in the desert sun, from guarding the palace to guarding the nation.
Real Sentry Boxes

Just outside the museum entrance, we have two genuine sentry boxes.

Step inside and imagine you are on the forecourt of Buckingham Palace, part of The King's Guard.

Optional Extra

Try on genuine Guards uniforms – the iconic scarlet tunic and bearskin cap – for a photo opportunity in the museum. Available in a variety of sizes from child to adult, and uniforms are adjustable at the back.

The Guards' Chapel

Located opposite the museum, The Royal Military Chapel (the Guards' Chapel) is free to visit.

Inside, find Standards and Colours of the Guards Regiments dating back to 1770, learn more about the V1 bombing that destroyed the Chapel in the Second World War, and appreciate the buildings' architectural history.
