Our school workshops bring history to life, encouraging curiosity and creativity as groups learn about key themes in the museum. Drawing on the National Curriculum, with the opportunity to handle objects from our collection, find out what we can offer below.
Medal Making
Discover the function of a medal and the origins surrounding the first medal awarded to soldiers of all ranks in the army, as you take inspiration from the hundreds of medals we have in our collection.
Group Size: Up to 20 students
Age Range: 7 - 14 years
Cost: £10 per child + VAT
Why do people have medals?
Medals are awarded to an individual to recognise their achievements. This session gives learners the chance to explore what a medal is, handle examples of the first medal awarded to soldiers of all ranks and have a go at designing their own.

Why We Remember
Discover some of the stories of Remembrance held by the museum, the evolution of the poppy as a symbol and how the Army continues to remember.
Group Size: Up to 20 students
Age Range: 5 - 14 years

Why do we wear poppies?
Each November, poppies are sold in shops, train stations, museums and lots of different public places. This session gives learners the chance to explore why poppies are worn at this time of year.
